Why Do Women Moan (Or Scream) During Sex?

Maybe we can all agree that people make strange noises when having sex, especially women, who just can’t hide the ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’.. but why?

While a man thinks his woman is having a sexy time as she moans during sex, it’s not exactly what’s happening deep inside a woman’s mind.

In a study published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior, women tend to moan (or scream) during sex because they want to speed up their partner’s climax and they want to boost their partner’s self-esteem.

Gayle Brewer, head of the researchers from the University of Central Lancashire and Colin Hendrie of the University of Leeds, asked 71 sexually active women why they make noises during sex.

The team discovered that 66 percent of the respondents moan just to speed up their partner’s orgasm, while a huge 87 percent said they do groan to pretend they’re reaching their peak.

“These data together clearly demonstrate a dissociation of the timing of women experiencing orgasm and making copulatory vocalisations and indicate that there is at least an element of these responses that are under conscious control, providing women with an opportunity to manipulate male behavior to their advantage,” the study revealed.

The researchers also found out that women moan whenever they are getting bored, tired, or uncomfortable during sex, just so the man get turned on and climax faster.

The study also revealed that the these ‘copulatory vocalisations’ were made just in time when men spurt.

“While female orgasms were most commonly experienced during foreplay, copulatory vocalisations were reported to be made most often before and simultaneously with male ejaculation,” the study added.

However, while all these information may ‘weigh men down’, the study has also stated that sometimes, women make those sexy noises when they’re actually having an orgasm.

So, whether you just want to please your man or you’re having a grand time, men can never tell!
